THE Tangsan Kwan Yin Temple at Jalan Upland in Kuching will move to its newly renovated premises today.
According to its management committee chairman Ngiaw Mui Khak, the renovation took place in June this year at a cost of RM300,000.
“The contribution for the renovation came from the devotees and well-wishers,” he told reporters yesterday.
“Previously, it was in a very shabby condition and was in urgent need of rebuilding,” he added.
The temple, which has over 130 years of history, he said, was managed by the Poh Ka Buddhist Temple.
“The consecration of the Kwan Yin statue to the newly renovated premises will be held in a grand ceremony where there will be lion and dragon dance performance.
“All devotees are urged to turn up for the ceremony,” he added.
